Level 7 Salon

Level 7 Salon + Artist Collective is a co-working space in Calgary for independent beauty artists. It began in spring 2019, when its founder, Anne, signed a lease and opened a salon without any staff. The space was set up to give artists independence and room to build their own brand and vision, and the collective describes itself as not fitting typical salon standards.

Each artist runs their own business here, managing bookings and payments directly. Clients book with their chosen artist through the online booking link in that artist's bio. Guests are asked to arrive on time and text their stylist when they get there. If someone is more than 15 minutes late, the stylist may shorten, adjust or rebook the appointment. Stylists sometimes run behind, so clients should keep their contact details current and check notifications on the day.

Every service begins with a consultation, and clients need to share their full hair history. Leaving out hair history may lead to a less desirable result and extra appointments at an additional rate. Refunds and service guarantees are not offered, because of the artistic nature of the work.

The space is open concept, and staff can point guests to a quieter area on request. Parking underground is complimentary; guests register their vehicle on the tablet at the front desk. Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome after checking with the stylist first, and the space has an in-house dog named Peach. Vocal dogs are not allowed; clients with one must reschedule and settle the day's rate in full with their stylist. Registered massage therapy is offered by appointment only.

The collective is built around artist independence, with each artist managing their own bookings, payments and brand.
