Legacy Nail Academy Lone Jack

Legacy Nail Academy operates only as a nail technology school, with classes at a Lone Jack location on US 50 and a Hamilton location on South Davis. Both schools keep school hours from Tuesday through Thursday, and Hamilton also holds Friday hours, so students can plan around the calendar.

The Missouri State Board of Cosmetology requires this program to include 400 training hours. Over that time, learners work on sculpted and overlay techniques, including gel X, hard gel, soft gel, acrylic and dip powder, along with structure gel, nail art and electric-file work. They are also taught to recognize warning signs on hands and feet and to guide clients toward services that fit their needs. Those who complete the hours sit a written exam and a practical exam through the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology, and passing both leads to a nail technician license. According to the school, its pass rate is 100%, and the course can be finished in under 15 weeks.

Tuition covers an acrylic kit, an e-file, a nail art tool set with a case and some extras. Full-time and part-time enrollment is available, classes start at any time, and financing and scholarships are offered. Enrollment is submitted online through the Missouri Mopro licensing site and requires a school contract, a 2x2 passport-style photo and, for students under 17, a guardian's signature. Getting the paperwork ready for a class takes about two weeks, and a $500 non-refundable registration fee is applied to tuition.

Clients of the school's student work can book manicures, pedicures, full sets, rebalances, structure manicures and nail art. The school notes that all services are performed by students and that results are not guaranteed. Prices are listed per service, and nail art is charged per nail.

Continuing education is available to current students as well as to people who already hold a nail technician license. Offerings include acrylic work, hard gel, gel X, structure gel, nail art, electric-file preparation and finishing, and pedicure services. The Lone Jack campus provides furnished, shared housing for students at $50 per night, and the school notes this option is well suited to anyone attending class two or three nights each week.

The school trains students through hands-on practice with a focus on preparing them for state licensing. Its instructors are encouraged to keep pursuing further education.
