About

LCA was founded in 2014 in San Diego by Nicole Johnson, who opened the first clinic there. The business was formerly known as Lice Clinics of America and has since expanded to Rock Hill and Orlando. It describes itself as a dedicated lice removal clinic rather than a salon. San Diego clinic phone is 619-771-9988, the Rock Hill clinic shares that number, and the Orlando mobile service can be reached at 321-414-8111.

A visit begins with a head screening, a scalp check that confirms whether lice or nits are present before any treatment. Full Air Treatment then uses heated air to deal with lice and nits, followed by a comb-out and a protective topical rinse. Treatment is completed in the clinic, usually within about an hour depending on hair length and how heavy the infestation is. Clients arrive with dry, detangled hair free of product or conditioner, and nothing needs to be applied at home or followed up with a visit.

Clients who cannot use the heated-air device can choose a strand-by-strand manual comb-out, which includes a follow-up 10 days later. Express treatment is adapted for extensions, braids, locs and specialty hair. Household members are encouraged to be checked, and head checks are free when another household member is treated. The business says every technician is trained personally by Nicole Johnson in lice removal, customer service and empathy, and that all staff are specially trained and certified in lice identification and removal.

Prices vary by location. Starting prices per person are $189 in San Diego, $165 in Orlando and $189 in York County. Pricing is described as flat-rate with no hidden fees. Orlando appointments are mobile and carry a $50 travel fee. A family discount means the first two treatments are at regular price, while the third family member and each additional treatment are $165 each. Same-day appointments are often available but not guaranteed. A re-exposure guarantee offers 50% off the next visit or a re-treatment if re-exposure occurs within 30 days, subject to terms.

Uses heated air instead of pesticides to deal with lice and their eggs, and does not use pesticide-based shampoos.
