La Miel opened in December 2022 on Six Forks Road in North Raleigh. Owner and lead treatment provider Adriana Sandoval Veliz, RN/MSN, and co-owner Dr. Susan Lovelle, MD, a former plastic surgeon who serves as medical director, run the practice. The business describes itself as a boutique medical spa and as plastic-surgeon-led.

The practice aims for long-term skin health rather than one-visit results, so it plans care in sequences that may run over six months, a year or longer. Plans often combine two or three services in a planned order. Treatment plans are built for each patient, and the team will decline a treatment that is not right for someone and suggest other options. Injectables follow a conservative-first approach, with products matched to each area of the face, and the practice aims to address the underlying cause of a concern rather than only the surface symptom.

A consultation is required before injectables, lasers, medical weight loss and most regenerative treatments. It usually takes 20 to 30 minutes and ends with a staged plan. Facials, DiamondGlow and skincare assessments can be booked without one. New-patient consultations are scheduled weekly, and booking one to two weeks ahead is typical; walk-ins are usually not seen the same day. Prices are not published, and a specific quote is given during the consultation. Consultations, treatments and aftercare are available in English or Spanish. Free on-site parking is available at the suite entrance.

Cosmetic treatments are generally not covered by insurance. Financing is offered through Affirm, Cherry and CareCredit, with soft-credit pre-qualification available through Affirm and Cherry. Payments go directly to the financing partner, and the practice has no in-house payment plan. Memberships are available with discounts and a predictable monthly fee for ongoing maintenance. Membership in the manufacturer loyalty programs is free, and points can be combined with the practice's pricing.

For skin types IV through VI, the practice uses Fitzpatrick-calibrated protocols. Melasma and hyperpigmentation treatments use pigment-safe layered protocols, and Nd:YAG and certain fractional non-ablative lasers are used on these skin types, while IPL and aggressive ablative lasers are generally not. Laser hair removal is offered for all skin tones.
