Knockout Beauty was founded in 2016 by Cayli Cavaco Reck, who spent years studying skin physiology, ingredients and formulation before opening the business. It started as a pop-up in the Hamptons, and its Bridgehampton shop opened in May 2016. A first Manhattan shop followed on Lexington Avenue about six months later. At the end of 2021 the New York team moved to Madison Avenue, which was then the company's largest location. Los Angeles, in Brentwood, became its third location. Aspen and Dallas are franchise locations, and the Dallas shop sits inside a health and wellness building in the Knox Henderson area near the Katy Trail. The Bridgehampton location operates seasonally.

A visit usually starts with a skin consultation, where the team reviews a client's skin and sets out a protocol. Facials are built around a precise protocol for each treatment and can be booked online or through the website. Clients can also schedule consultations online. The shop sells its own Knockout Beauty brand alongside many other skincare and beauty labels, and every location stocks products hand-picked by the founder, including beauty tools and internal wellness supplements.

The product range covers cleansers, toners, face oils, face creams, eye and lip products, sun protection, masks and treatments, along with makeup, bath and body items, fragrance, hair, hand and nail products, men's products, wellness items and candles. The business also runs Masterclasses for skin education, introduced in early 2022.
