Klawed by Kay D is a nail business on Boston Road in the Bronx, open six days a week. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday run until 9 PM, Monday, Wednesday and Friday close at 7 PM, and Sunday is closed.

The main work is sculpted and structured nails. Gel X uses pre-shaped tips bonded with soft gel and cured under LED light, and it can last three to four weeks. Overlays are soft gel or acrylic applied directly to the natural nail without tips, and structured manicures suit short to medium natural nails. Full sets come in basic, French (sculpted or hand painted), freestyle, and blinged-out styles. Fill-ins are offered at two to three weeks or four to six weeks with a rebalance, though the shorter fill-in is only for sets the salon applied. Sets that need a custom plan can be booked at a custom price after discussing them with Kay D first.

Pedicures include cuticle care, polish, a soak, a scrub, massage and a personal tool kit, and a dry pedicure is available for clients who prefer their feet not soaked or scrubbed. Nail art, rhinestones and charms can be added to most sets.

Payment can be made in cash or by debit or credit card, including Tap to Pay. Card payments carry a 3.5% surcharge. Buy Now, Pay Later is available for bookings between $50 and $4,000 but needs approval before the appointment. Gift cards can be bought at any time. Many services require a deposit. Arriving after a 15-minute grace period incurs a $15 late fee, and appointments are canceled once a client is 20 minutes late, with a 30% no-show fee. Rescheduling needs at least 48 hours notice, or a $15 fee applies, and it must stay within the month originally booked. Deposits do not roll over to the next month. Clients arriving with existing enhancements can book a soak off, reschedule for bare nails, or cancel. Damaged nails are not serviced, and the salon does not work over another technician's work. Appointments before opening or after closing carry a $50 fee and a $50 deposit, and need approval by contacting Kay D.
