She started out as an employee, then rented a booth in a salon, moved into a salon suite, and eventually opened her own salon space that now includes booth renters. The studio is small and quiet, with limited space, and everything is booked by appointment.

Each full set starts with a consultation and a face study diagram, which is used to plan the look around eye shape, face shape and lifestyle. Full sets can be made light and wispy or dramatic and voluminous. Clients rest on a heated bed during their appointment, and headphones and phone chargers are available.

Beyond client work, the studio teaches. Offerings include lash masterclasses, a pricing course for lash artists, one-on-one 60-minute coaching calls for solo artists and beauty professionals, and a private four-hour in-person session for licensed and certified lash artists. Coaching topics include business strategy, client retention, pricing, content creation and social media. Kayla also hosts the free Educated Artistry Podcast for beauty business owners.

Booking policies are set out on the website, and new clients must complete a consent form and read them before booking a full set. Cancellations or schedule changes need 24 hours' notice, and shorter notice is charged at 50% of the service. No-shows and cancellations less than an hour ahead are charged the full price. Confirmations arrive by text or email on the booking day and 48 hours before. Children under 8 should not be brought to appointments, and late arrivals keep the remaining reserved time at the same price. Appointments outside regular hours carry a $30 after-hours fee, which may change for some services or holidays.
