About

Kira Higgins has been doing hair professionally since 2006 and has worked behind the chair at the salon for more than 14 years. Training began at cosmetology school, which followed a college degree. While at school, Kira worked in high-end Aveda and Bumble & Bumble salons. After school came an apprenticeship and further intensive training of about a year and a half, before starting an independent business.

Kira works with both new and returning clients, including visitors to San Diego who want a cut or a style during their stay. The first step is meeting a new client to find a look that suits them, then building on that look through regular visits over time. Clients who have challenges with their hair are also welcome.

Beyond salon work, Kira does hair for weddings, photography shoots and fashion events. With bridal clients, the goal is texture that feels pleasant to the touch and still looks right up close and in photos over time. Behind the scenes, she has been lead stylist for runway productions including The Art of Weddings, Portland Fashion Week, and shows staged by Leonard Simpson. She has also been on the hair crew at LA Fashion Week and San Diego Fashion Week.

Kira's images have been published in magazines across several countries: Computer Arts in the US, Glamour in Germany, Book Moda in Italy, and Cap & Design in Sweden. Past work includes designers Sara Seven, Elizabeth Dye and Holly Stalder, Project Runway contestants Seth Aaron and Jeanne Marie, and the B-52's, Pennie Lane, Steph Davis and Ueli Steck. Kira is a Pureology Educator, training other stylists on current trends and product knowledge. She also attends monthly classes run by various hair brands.

For salon clients, the goal is hair the client feels confident in and that still looks right until the next visit. Each new client is matched to a style that suits them, which is then developed across ongoing appointments.
