The business has been locally owned and operated since 1992 and has served the Twin Cities since then. Each location is set up for children, with child-sized chairs fitted with safety belts, kid-sized capes, and wall toys in the lobby to help young clients settle in before the cut.
A visit starts with staff greeting children to help them feel comfortable. A child can pick a show on a TV during the haircut, and games are available to play while waiting. Every haircut comes with a complimentary Fun Extra, such as a braid, glitter or a temporary tattoo, plus a sucker and a sticker.
The salon describes its aim as offering quality cuts to children of every age, in a setting meant to feel enjoyable, secure and at ease. According to the salon, Minnesota Parent named it the Best Place for a Child's Haircut for 2026, and the salon says Minnesota Family Favorites ranked it number one in that category for three years in a row.
The signature cut, The Kids' Hair Haircut, is done by stylists who keep up with current kids' trends such as bobs, fades, long layers and the hockey flow. First Haircut includes saving a lock of hair and a keepsake certificate, and Haircut and Wash uses a gentle wash and conditioner from the Original Sprout line. Malibu treatments are offered for summer swim care, and Malibu products are sold for use at home. The salons use no chemical treatments.
Built around child-friendly haircuts in a fun, safe and comfortable setting, with no chemical treatments used in the salons.
Child-sized chairs, kid-sized capes and wall toys make the salons feel designed for young clients.
