Keratin Cafe

Keratin Cafe opened in spring 2017. Its owner stylist, Suzie, co-opened the salon after spending 15 years working along Washington Street, and she has more than 30 years of experience in the New York City metropolitan area.

Appointments are preferred and should be booked at least three weeks out. New clients send a service request by text to the salon's phone number, including a photo of their full-length hair and the appointment time they want, and the salon answers requests within the same business day. Visits run two to three hours, so the salon asks clients to arrive five minutes early. Rescheduling needs at least 24 hours' notice. Payment is accepted by cash, Venmo or Zelle.

Keratin treatments are customized to each client's needs and hair condition. The salon offers the standard Keratin Treatment, the Cezanne Treatment, which uses a formaldehyde-free keratin product, and a Japanese straightening option combined with keratin. The salon also recommends that clients who color or highlight their hair, or plan to, have keratin done at least three to four days before any other service.

Treatments are customized to each client's hair, and the salon aims for every client to leave satisfied with the result.
