Kelsy Osterman Private Hair Studio

Kelsy Osterman is a private cutting studio rather than a conventional salon, and the business describes itself as an artist's sanctuary. The Minneapolis studio is in northeast Minneapolis inside the historic Telephone Company building and is open by appointment only.

The owner spent 15 years working in New York City with celebrities, editorial teams, TV productions and Fashion Week, and returned to Minneapolis in 2020. New York City visits take the form of three-week residencies held three times a year at a private studio at 119 W 23rd St.

A haircut is a one-hour appointment that begins with an in-depth consultation, followed by a dry cut and then a shampoo and style, at $300. Dry hair sculpting is the signature service at the Minneapolis studio. The building and salon are ADA compliant, with elevator access.

Cuts are built around how hair moves and how it fits a person's environment and daily rhythm, refining what is already there instead of forcing a shape, with wellbeing considered in every haircut.
