Katy Aesthetics is a small studio in Annandale offering lash extensions, permanent makeup, brow and lash treatments, microneedling and tattoo removal. Its founder, Katy, previously owned and built a nail and spa salon in Maryland before concentrating on lashes and permanent makeup.

Permanent makeup is central to the work: nano brows, ombre powder brows, nano hairstrokes, permanent eyeliner and lip blushing. Brow designs are drawn on the face and suit each client's features, and pigment is matched to skin tone and undertone. Nothing permanent is done until the client approves the design. Nano brows are a two-step process, a mapping and pigment session followed by a perfecting session six to eight weeks later. Corrections of work done by other artists are quoted after photos and details are received, and require the existing pigment to have faded at least 60 percent; very saturated pigment may need removing first. Permanent makeup is not offered to clients under 18 or to those who are pregnant or nursing.

Lash services include volume, wispy hybrid and wispy Kim K styles, in full sets, fills and bottom lashes, with removal of extensions available. Fills are for existing clients only: two to three week fills need at least half of the lashes still on and must be booked three weeks after the first visit, while four week fills need at least a quarter still on. Brow and lash treatments include brow waxing, brow tinting, brow lamination, keratin lash lift and tint, and lash lift and tint, alongside skincare and facial services.

Booking is done online. A non-refundable booking fee reserves the appointment and is credited toward the total; it can be transferred once. The balance is paid at the visit, with cash or electronic payment preferred, and major credit or debit cards accepted with a 4 percent processing fee. Appointments can be rescheduled once with at least 48 hours notice. Clients more than 20 minutes late are cancelled and treated as a no-show. Children are not allowed in the service room, and results are not guaranteed and vary by client.

Each client's goals are heard first, and every service is tailored to the client's features, with appointments timed so the artist is not rushed.
