Katie Beauty Academy trains students for careers in beauty through practical, hands-on programs at its Renton campus on Benson Road S. The academy's stated mission is to build professional skills, confidence and new career opportunities for its students.

The academy offers four programs. Cosmetology runs 1,600 hours and covers haircuts, color, perms, hairstyling, facials, waxing and basic nails. Barbering runs 1,000 hours and covers men's and women's haircuts, clipper work, styling and razor shaving. Esthetics runs 750 hours and covers facials, waxing, eyelash enhancement, makeup and sanitation. Nail Technician runs 600 hours and covers artificial and natural nail care, manicures, pedicures, nail art and sanitation.

Services are performed by students in training rather than by licensed professionals. According to the academy, a licensed instructor supervises every step of a student service, and a professional instructor stays present through each appointment to guide and correct the student. Students complete between 600 and 1,600 hours of structured training before they work with clients. The academy says student-performed services are priced well below typical salon prices.

The academy welcomes prospective students to tour the campus, see the learning environment and ask questions about the programs. The business is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Training is hands-on and built around supervised practice, with students working on real clients only after completing structured coursework and instructor guidance.
