JSP Hair & Color Design was founded in 2010 by Melanie Ouellette as an independent stylist. In 2023 the business opened as a brick-and-mortar salon and has since grown into a team of stylists. The main Austin location is inside Sugar Hill Collective on West 34th Street, and a second location is on Speidel Drive in Pflugerville.

The salon offers cuts, color, styling, treatments, hair extensions, and bridal and event hair and makeup. Weddings and special events are a clear focus: personalized hair and makeup is available for wedding parties of any size, and the team works at local venues as well as at venues across the country.

Hair extensions are booked in stages. Every extension service begins with a consultation, and the $50 consultation fee is applied toward the hair if the client goes ahead with an installation. The full cost of the extension hair is paid when the installation is scheduled.

The salon says the team has over 30 years of combined experience in the beauty industry. Its portfolio covers blonde, brunette, auburn and red color, fashion color, cuts and bridal styling. The salon describes itself as a trusted destination for premium hair services in Central Austin.

Monday and Sunday are by appointment only. Tuesday through Friday hours run from 9:30am to 8:00pm, and Saturday hours run from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Online booking is available at both locations, and clients can also call, text or email the salon with questions.

Client satisfaction comes first, and the salon takes time to learn each client's goals, hair and lifestyle before recommending products and styles.
