Jen Alexa Beauty is run by owner Jen Alexa, a certified lash and makeup artist, from a unit at 2715 Main Street in Highland. The studio is open Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, Friday morning into early afternoon, and Saturday morning, and is closed Monday, Tuesday and Sunday.

Lash services cover full sets and fills in several styles: classic, hybrid, volume and mega volume. Mega volume uses fans thicker than regular volume and is only done when the natural lashes are healthy enough for it. Fills need at least 40 to 60 percent of natural lashes still in place; if more are missing, a full set is booked instead. Lash extension removal is done with a cream method.

Makeup services include full glam, with false lashes, glitter, rhinestones and body glow if wanted, and natural glam, which has lighter coverage with false lashes and shimmer. Makeup classes run at three levels. The beginner class covers skin prep, an everyday look, tools and application, and includes a makeup bag and one product. The intermediate class covers glam, day-to-night looks, longevity and false lash application, and includes two products. The advanced class is for aspiring makeup artists, is limited to ages 18 and up, and ends with a certificate of completion.

Booking requires a deposit, which goes toward the service. Clients are asked to cancel at least 24 hours ahead. A booking fee can be moved once to reschedule, and a second reschedule needs a new fee. No-shows and last-minute cancellations are charged 70 percent of the booked service. Gift cards come in set amounts or a custom amount and are final once purchased.
