Jazzy Braidz Salon

Jazzy Braidz Salon describes itself as a luxury salon in an urban setting. It grew out of a typical braid shop that Miss Jazzy helped transform, and it now serves all hair textures with services that range from protective braids and extensions to loc installs, silk press, men's braids and hair-loss care.

The Growth & Extensionz menu includes feed-in braids in 3 to 7 styles, knotless BoHo styles (two or more braiders, shampoo, blow out, braiding and a loose deep wave in human hair), knotless box braid extensions with added hair, and braidless extensions offered in seven install methods. Growth-encouraging braids are fitted to each client's hair, seven dread extension techniques are offered, and locs can be started with human hair in a chosen color, with all-over color or highlights available. Soft locs use synthetic and human hair, temporary dreadlocks come in several install methods, and festival styles add long-lasting color to feed-in braids. The salon can also supply human hair to match a client's color and texture for loc installs.

Crown Restorationz adds human or matching hair at the roots in place of a retwist, offers custom cranial prostheses for clients experiencing hair loss, and provides consultations for anyone unsure which hair-loss service applies to them. The salon accepts medical insurance for cranial prostheses and suggests checking coverage and getting pre-authorization first.

Walk-ins are welcome from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday through Saturday, and reservations are available Tuesday through Sunday with a 25% deposit that is applied to the service total on arrival when the client is on time or early. Cancellations made up to 48 hours ahead receive a full deposit refund, while cancellations or late arrivals within 48 hours are charged the deposit. All sales are final and services are not refundable. The salon offers a 10% discount for military and senior clients, and box braids, extensions and design braids can be split into 4 payments through Affirm with no credit check. Booth renters can take walk-in clients and are listed on the online booking platform, which requires a deposit.

The salon also teaches. It offers a two-year full-time cosmetology apprenticeship that meets the state's 3,000-hour requirement, with curriculum at $250 per month and an in-person class every three weeks. Saturday 4pm classes are free for applicants with an application on file, group in-person classes cost $600 for a 4-hour session for up to 8 people, and free online lessons are available on the salon's YouTube channel. Licensed stylists, colorists and barbers are welcome to learn about using added hair and cranial prostheses, and a cosmetology license is not required for braiders, locticians or make-up artists.

Teaches clients and staff how to grow and maintain healthy hair, and says styles with less scalp pulling can help reduce hair loss from daily styling.
