Owner and stylist Jennifer Tabano opened J&CO Hair with partners in spring 2015. The studio's team of stylists and colorists covers haircuts, color, extensions, styling and smoothing or straightening treatments for women, men and children, and clients come from across Bergen County.

Color is a major focus, from glazes and single process color through partial and full highlights, balayage and custom blonding. Color correction is priced after a consultation. Hair and chemical service prices vary by stylist, technique and hair length, so an exact quote comes from a consultation, which new clients receive free before their first appointment.

Extensions are applied with clip-in, tape-in or invisible beaded sew-in methods, and every extension booking requires an in-person or phone consultation first. Extension clients follow the cancellation and rescheduling terms in their contract. Bridal services are offered, and off-site services are available.

Opening hours run Monday 1 to 4 PM (bookings only), Tuesday 10 AM to 6 PM, Wednesday to Friday 9 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM, with Sundays closed. Card payments carry a 3.5% service charge. Tips are optional and given in cash only, and an ATM is available on site. Payment methods clients provide are kept on file in secure storage. Children aged 9 or younger need a guardian with them for the whole visit, and that guardian cannot be booked for a service that day. Clients are asked to set phones to silent, and free charging stations are provided.

Clients who have a service discussed in consultation can request a redo free in most cases within 7 days of the appointment. Concerns should be reported within 48 hours, and a correction can be scheduled within a week of the original visit. Hair products bought at the salon can be exchanged for another product within 7 days of purchase.

Stylists consult with each client before tailoring color and style, aiming for a look that suits the client's skin tone, wardrobe and personality.
