About

It's Still Me was opened by owner Jan Strassburg after more than a year of planning. The studio was started to help women with hair loss understand what a quality hair piece can offer. The name reflects the emotional side of losing hair and the idea that the person underneath stays the same. Visits are by appointment only and take place as private, one-on-one consultations in an intimate setting. A wig consultation and fitting is free, with no obligation to purchase. Consultations include a Wig 101 session for first-time wearers covering hair types, cap construction, price points, head measurement, and wig handling and care. Clients may bring a family member or friend along for support. Wigs are fitted to each client's head shape and size. The studio also runs a gifting program in which friends and family can contribute toward a client's wig.

Wigs are offered in machine stitched and hand-tied cap constructions, and synthetic and human hair wigs are both available with a monofilament top. Most wigs come in three sizes with adjustable tabs for fit. Human hair wigs can be custom colored to match a client's original hair color. According to the FAQ, a costume wig can cost about $30, a high quality machine-made wig about $100 to $200, a monofilament wig usually $250 to $400, and a hand-tied wig usually $300 to $650. A good quality human hair wig starts at around $500, and a custom human hair wig can run $3,000 or more. The studio states it offers access to hundreds of top quality wigs. According to the FAQ, most insurance companies cover between 80% and 100% of a cranial hair prosthesis, and the studio provides guidance on insurance claims, including physician prescriptions and invoice wording. The studio says it received the Innovative Business of the Year Award from NAWBO, and it has been featured in the Star Tribune, Twin Cities Business, Sun Newspapers and Lakeshore Weekly News, according to its website. Regular hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with Saturdays by appointment. The phone number is 952-405-8671.
