Island Spa & Sauna is a Korean-style bathhouse and day spa in Edison. Every visit starts with general admission, which is walk-in only and paid at the front desk on the day of the visit. Guests need admission even when they book a spa service, and it does not cover treatments, food, drinks or retail. Weekday admission is $55, and weekends, federal holidays and family days are $65. Admission covers the sauna rooms, four soaking tubs, a steam room, a bathing area, a sleeping room, a lounging area, a towel and wifi. The sauna rooms are named for islands: Ice, Treasure, Charcoal, Salt, Forest and Clay. The bathhouse also has six dry saunas, an ice sauna, aroma steam saunas, hydrotherapy baths and showers, with separate spaces for women and men. Bathhouse guests must be fully nude, and electronic devices are not allowed inside. Recommended sauna sessions run about 8 to 20 minutes depending on the room. According to the business, the Salt Island halotherapy room can help with skin conditions such as acne and psoriasis. A café, Cafe Island, is on site.
The facial menu is organized by treatment goal. It includes a 30-minute quick facial, several 60-minute and 90-minute facials for hydration, brightening, firming, plant-based anti-aging and anti-wrinkle concerns, an oxygenating facial aimed at acne, and a men's facial. A clarifying treatment for the back focuses on cleansing, exfoliating and extracting acne. Add-ons include a collagen eye lifting treatment and an additional extraction. The last facial call is at 7:30 PM.
The massage menu includes Swedish, deep tissue, acupressure performed without oils, hot stone with heated basalt stones, and ashiatsu bar massage, a barefoot technique using ceiling-mounted bars with female therapists only. Foot reflexology and dry seated chair massage are offered with male therapists only. Prenatal massage is for people between 13 and 36 weeks pregnant, is not recommended for high-risk pregnancies, is available Monday to Friday with female therapists only, and is booked in person or by phone. Several massages and the head spa can be booked as couples services. Body scrubs, VIP treatments and yoni steam are all part of the wider menu, and gift cards, a 10-admission bundle and service pass bundles are sold.
Pairs a traditional Korean bathhouse experience with massage and skincare services, and suggests body scrubs every one to two weeks to keep skin in good condition.
