It is a private institution that the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education approves to operate.

Programs range from 200 to 1000 hours, with the 1000-hour barbering and cosmetology programs being the longest. The esthetics program runs 600 hours, including at least 235 hours of technical instruction, while the manicuring program runs 400 hours and covers both manicures and pedicures. To move forward, students must earn a minimum grade point average of 70% (C) on assigned tests. Graduates receive a diploma and become eligible to sit for the California state certification exam for licensure.

Crossover programs are available for people who already hold a license. The 200-hour Barber Crossover is for licensed cosmetologists, and the Cosmetology Crossover is at least 300 hours for licensed barbers. Barber Crossover students must attend at least twelve hours per week, and schedules are flexible. The school says the cosmetology program leads to licensure to work at any salon in the United States, subject to each state's rules, and that the Barber Crossover allows graduates to work as a barber anywhere in the United States.

Clients can book services at the student clinic, where students perform the work under instructor supervision. South Gate clinic hours are weekday mornings from 10am to 2pm, with cosmetology appointments on Tuesday through Friday evenings from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and barber appointments on Tuesday through Friday evenings from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. The clinic is closed on weekends. The school says its services offer large savings compared with traditional salons, spas and barbershops.

Students can pay tuition in monthly installments over the length of their contract or through the online payment page. A placement representative arranges interviews with prospective employers, though the school does not guarantee employment. The school does not participate in Title IV federal student financial aid and offers a student academic achievement award for cosmetology and barber programs only. The state board has approved licensure from January 1, 2015 for graduates with an ITN card and a government ID, without a Social Security number. Classes, Spanish textbooks and the state exam are available in Spanish, as well as English classes.

Training is built around supervised hands-on practice in the student clinic, with a curriculum the school says it has revised over time.
