Indigo Collective

Indigo Collective opened in 2018 in the Hunterdon Hills Plaza on US 22 West, with parking on site. Samantha Pennington founded the salon, and its stated goals are a guest-focused experience, eco-conscious business choices, and a team culture built on support, empowerment and community.

A visit often begins in the shampoo lounge, where haircut, treatment and extension services start with a wash and scalp massage using Aveda shampoo and conditioner, and haircuts, treatments and extensions include a blow dry. Complimentary beverages and snacks come with every service, and guests can pick beverages and healthy snacks during color processing. Guests who want quiet can request a silent appointment with limited conversation.

Menu prices are starting prices that can vary by application, and the total is set at a consultation. Color is priced a la carte, and service upgrades can be added when booking or on arrival. Bang trims and reshaping are complimentary for current guests. New guests are asked to call or text 908-840-4064 or email to book a first appointment so enough time is set aside, and online booking is also available. Stylists work on commission and as a team rather than renting booths, and the salon uses a Level 1 to Level 4 system in which pricing rises with each level and advancement is based on performance.

The salon asks for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or change an appointment. Cancellations under 24 hours and no-call no-shows are charged half the scheduled price, and late arrivals may be rescheduled. Gift cards can be bought in the salon or online and cannot be used for tips, and gift cards and services are final sale, with concerns raised within 7 days of the appointment. Retail products can be returned unopened or gently used within 14 days for salon credit. Accepted payments include major credit cards, debit cards, gift cards and cash.

The salon uses Aveda products exclusively, which it describes as vegan and cruelty-free, and it builds its day-to-day choices around eco-conscious practices and a supportive team culture.
