(in) tandem & west is set up as a shared salon space for independent stylists and their guests. Each designer runs their own services, sets their own prices by time, and takes bookings in their own schedule, so clients choose a designer rather than a single house style.

Most services are scheduled and priced by the hour and booked through an integrated online platform. When a time slot is full, online booking offers a waitlist. Extension services are the exception: they are booked directly with the designers and cannot be booked online, and designers aim to reply to inquiries within three to four days.

The salon's stated focus is comfort, a polished feel, and a layout that works for both the stylists and the guests. A hospitality bar offers complimentary snacks and a selection of drinks while clients wait or relax during their visit.

Arriving is simple. Clients check in on an iPad at the salon, and with an appointment they enter their phone number so their stylist is notified. The salon does not have a dedicated phone line for calls or texts, so questions go through online booking or to the designers directly. Free parking is available in the parking deck, with its entrance on Cedar Street behind the salon.

Cancellation terms are set by the salon: changes made 36 to 18 hours before an appointment are charged 50 percent of the total booked, and changes made 18 hours or less before are charged the full total.

Stylists work independently and price their services by time.
