In Style opened in 2001, founded by Jeannie Karr, who still works on the floor as a stylist. Kelly Aumiller took over the salon in 2021. The stated mission is to create an atmosphere where clients feel seen, valued and cared for, and leave looking and feeling their best.

The salon is open every day of the week and stays open later on Monday through Thursday evenings. Protective smocks can be provided on request, since hair color and products may leave stains. Guests are advised to leave costly or keepsake garments and jewelry at home. The salon accepts no liability for harm to clothing, jewelry, bags, or other belongings.

Services include blonding, dimensional brunettes, color and highlighting, extensions, shorter haircuts and men's cutting, with a team of eight stylists at the Sykesville location. Children are welcome but must not be left unsupervised, since the salon has sharp tools, hot tools and chemicals; children who are not being serviced must stay seated with a parent.
