The salon describes itself as an industry leader and says it has been operating for 18 years. It reports that many clients have been coming for 20 years or more, that some of those clients' daughters now book too, and that clients travel in from places as far away as India and Italy.

Japanese hair straightening, also called thermal reconditioning, is the salon's most specialized service. The stylist has been certified in the process for 18 years, and the salon says few certified stylists have been practicing as long. Hair is flat-ironed in small sections to reform the bonds and smooth the cuticle, and the result is described as permanent until new growth appears. Before booking, clients text photos of their hair so candidacy can be checked. A Thermal Consult of about 30 minutes evaluates hair and whether a client is a good candidate, and the FAQ says the initial consultation is free. Clients with bleach on their hair are typically not good candidates, and a strand test is required when unsure. Hair treated with certain relaxers or bleach should not receive thermal straightening, according to the FAQ.

Color and cutting cover a wide range of needs. Color services start at $100 and vary with the color chosen. Single process color with cut and blowdry, base color with foil highlights, and specialty work such as color correction, balayage, babylights, platinum blonding, ultra bright and high intensity fashion color are all offered. Men's, children's and women's cuts run from business and fade cuts to bobs, wedges and curly cuts.

Policies to know: clients more than 15 minutes late must reschedule, a $50 deposit may be required to hold a straightening appointment, and cash, checks and Zelle are accepted for some services.

The salon says it uses only high-quality products and states that satisfaction is guaranteed. For straightening, it reviews each client's hair history and condition before booking.
