Hula Barbie Hair was founded by Chalei McKee, who works under the name Hula Barbie. The business has two locations: one on Moanalua Road in Aiea, Hawaii, and one on South Rainbow Boulevard, suite 150, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Services range from lived-in color, root touch-ups, grey coverage and color correction to bleach washes, cuts, highlights and styling. Color correction requires a consultation first. Bridal work includes day-of hair and bride trial runs, and event styling can be done in the salon or on location, with a travel fee for on-location visits.

Extension services cover weft, tape-in, I-tip and K-tip (keratin tip) installs, move-ups, removals and reinstalls. Hair for a day-of clip-in extension service is supplied by the bride unless it is arranged with the stylist at purchase, and hair for a tape-in reapplication must be bought before the appointment.

Booking rules differ by location. In Aiea, clients who cannot attend are asked to tell the salon as soon as possible so they can reschedule. In Las Vegas, changes or cancellations need at least 12 hours' notice, and a non-refundable deposit applied to the service is forfeited for late cancellations or no-shows. Buy Now, Pay Later is available in person and at booking for bookings from $50 to $4,000, with approval needed before the appointment. Booking questions can go to hair@hulabarbie.com.
