HQ Salon and Spa opened in 1978 as a four-chair barber styling salon. It began in Lorain, Ohio, and later added the Crocker Park location in Westlake and a location at The Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel, Florida. The business was founded by Ron and Tamara Bennett, and according to the salon it has served clients for more than thirty-five years. HQ Salon and Spa opened in 1978 as a four-chair barber styling salon. The business was founded by Ron and Tamara Bennett, and according to the salon it has served clients for more than thirty-five years. The salon says it wants guests to feel good from the moment they arrive until they leave, and it describes the visit as more than a haircut. Two complimentary add-ons come with appointments: a botanical conditioning treatment with a new haircut, and a shine gloss with a new color service.

Stylists are graded as Artistic, Master, Designer or Next Generation, and pricing reflects differences in education and experience between those levels. Designer, Master and Artistic stylists have completed the HQ advanced academy, which covers cutting, Aveda hair color, texture techniques and hairstyling. Master and Artistic stylists have also attended Aveda advanced programs on hair care recommendations, salon trends, advanced cutting and advanced color technique. According to the salon, booking request rates are 85 percent and above for Artistic stylists, 75 percent for Master stylists and 65 percent for Designer stylists.

Color consultations are requested through an online form, and the salon contacts clients to schedule them. Color services include highlights, balayage, shine, root touch up, fashion color and all over color, and corrective color is priced after a consultation. The salon also offers VoMor tape-in extensions, which it says it uses exclusively, and Botanical Therapy treatments that can be added to a hair service.

The salon says its team keeps learning and aims to add value to every service. It also states that it follows Aveda's mission of ethical and sustainable business practices.
