HomeSTED opened in November 2020, started by owner Dave Bain after his previous salon closed during COVID-19. The studio sits at the end of a cul-de-sac on Ryan Drive, in a small space behind his house.

Services are offered by appointment only, one client at a time. Every booking includes an extra 30 minutes for sanitizing the room and running the air purifier, so the next client starts in a clean space. Clients who would rather be outside can use an outdoor chair or the open-air deck, weather permitting, and are asked to arrive with clean hair.

The menu covers women's, men's and children's haircuts, color, foil work, combined color-and-cut appointments, and keratin smoothing treatments on their own or with a haircut. Gift cards are sold online through Square in set amounts or a custom value. For same-day service or a consultation, clients can text the studio.

Each client is booked one-on-one, and every appointment includes time for sanitizing and air purification.

A 200-square-foot studio that feels relaxed and clean, with a Dyson air purifier running, plus an outdoor option when the weather allows.
