Hollywood Beauty Academy has been preparing students for careers in beauty for over two decades. The Florida Commission for Independent Education holds the school's accreditation, which covers cosmetology, esthetics, nail technology and barbering. The school is operated by HBA Hollywood Beauty Academy, LLC.
The cosmetology course totals 1,200 hours and runs across roughly 10 to 11 months. Classes meet Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 7pm, with a maximum of 25 students in each cohort. Training spans cutting, color, chemical treatments, styling, basic esthetics and nail work. Completers may take the Florida cosmetology licensing exam, a requirement before a license is issued. According to the school, more than 95% of its students pass that exam.
The esthetics program takes 220 hours over about two and a half months, with class sizes limited to 18. Training covers facials, skincare treatments, waxing, makeup basics and client safety. Hollywood is a Dermalogica partnership school, so students learn on Dermalogica products, and optional Dermalogica certification can be completed during instruction. Students test with the lead instructor at the end of the course, and no state exam is required to become a licensed esthetician. Applicants need no prior skin care experience and must have passed 10th grade English; a high school diploma or GED is not required.
The nail technology program takes 180 hours over two months, with classes Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday from 9am to 7pm and a limit of 16 students. It follows the Florida Department of Education 180-hour curriculum. Students test with the lead instructors, and no state exam is required. Federal student grants and loans do not apply to this program. Applicants need no prior experience and must have passed 10th grade English.
The Full Specialist program combines esthetics and nail technology into one 400-hour course that takes about four months, with classes Monday to Thursday from 9am to 7pm. Tuition is $7,190 and includes a Dermalogica kit, a nail kit, an apron, and state board registration and license fees. All instruction and certification is completed at the school. Students can take the two courses together four days a week, finishing in about two and a half months, or back-to-back, finishing in about four months. Graduates can work at nail salons or esthetics spas, or open their own spa or salon.
The student clinic offers services performed by students under supervision at discounted prices, booked by appointment. Services are available to the public. Continuing education is offered in esthetics, cosmetology, nail technology and for full specialists, including advanced chemical peels, lash extensions, microblading, microneedling, 3D and gel nail art, and Russian manicures and pedicures.
Instructors teach to the Milady curriculum, pairing theory with hands-on coursework in each module. Lectures and quizzes run on an online learning platform, with practice done on campus.
