Highbrow is an independently owned waxing salon in inner southeast Portland. It has operated independently since 2016, when owner Leanna Inman opened her own waxing practice after working out of TREAT, a collective in northeast Portland.

The menu is split into face and body services. Face options include brow waxing, brow tinting, lash tinting, lip, chin, cheek and nostril waxing, full face waxing, and several combined brow packages. Body options cover underarms, arms, back, chest, bikini, backside, Brazilian and leg waxing, with the Full Leg service and combined bikini and backside options among the longer appointments.

Appointments can be booked online through Vagaro or by calling the salon. New clients fill out an intake form and waiver before arriving. Minors can be waxed when a parent or guardian attends the first appointment and signs the intake form.

The salon is on the third floor of the historic Ford Building, with a secured entrance on 11th Avenue. To get in, find Highbrow by name on the call box, enter 4 for H and press call; the owner will buzz you in. The stairwell is on the first left after entering the building, and the elevator is down the ramped walkway on the right.

Cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice. Appointments cancelled within 24 hours or missed are charged 50% of the services booked, and a Venmo or credit card payment is required before rebooking after a late cancellation or no-show. Waxing is not offered to clients taking Accutane, or who stopped it less than a year ago, clients with lupus, AIDS, or who are in chemotherapy or radiation, and clients who have recently been in direct sun for long periods or used a tanning bed within 24 hours. Clients using retinol should stop at least 7 days before a waxing appointment. Hair should be at least 3 weeks of growth, or long enough to grab with fingertips, for body waxing.

A small, independently run waxing practice that builds each visit around client comfort and screening before service.
