Lovebird Studio opened as a private studio in downtown Tempe in March 2022, on South Mill Avenue in the historic Maple Ash neighborhood. Lovebird Studio opened as a private studio in downtown Tempe in March 2022, on South Mill Avenue in the historic Maple Ash neighborhood. There are two parking spaces along the building, reached through the alley behind Mill Avenue from 9th or 10th Street. The studio describes itself as a private, clean air space and aims for a calm, sensory friendly setting with no synthetic scents, little noise and none of the bustle of a busy salon.

The studio's philosophy is gentle. It puts kindness and compassion toward clients and the environment first, and favors integrity over aggressive techniques to protect hair health. New clients fill out a New Client Form after booking their first appointment and receive a text beforehand to help them find the studio. One guest may attend each appointment, with extra seating available, and small children are not advised at appointments.

Services cover scalp facials, color, cuts, dreadlock care and maintenance. The scalp facial is a central offering: it includes a pre treatment, deep cleansing, gentle exfoliation, a personalized deep conditioner, a massage and a tonic or serum finish. Color is hand painted or foiled, and the studio uses Organic Colour Systems, an ammonia free line it describes as certified organic. It also carries a PPD free semi permanent color for clients with a PPD allergy, and says its color services leave longer lasting reds and full grey coverage.

Hours are Wednesday 10 am to 5 pm, Thursday 10 am to 4 pm, Friday 11 am to 5 pm and Sunday 12 pm to 6 pm; the studio is closed Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. Community haircuts are offered on Wednesdays from 3 to 5 pm at a varying price, for clients who arrive with freshly washed hair free from products. Gift cards are sold as eGift cards in amounts of $100, $150, $200, $300 or a custom amount.
