The team says its culture also makes room for people who do not look, act or sound like the stylists already there, including people who have long felt they did not fit in anywhere. Two co-founders, Natalie and Goodie, lead the salon.

Visiting starts with finding the entrance: the main door is up a ramp next to three dedicated parking spaces, not the glass door on Minnehaha Ave. There is no front desk, so clients text the salon when they arrive. Street parking is available on Minnehaha Ave. and Prior Ave., and a shared lot sits on Prior Ave. across the alley. Online booking is open around the clock, and each stylist's own prices and appointment times appear through the booking button and on the Our Team page.

Pricing is hourly and all inclusive, based on the length of the appointment, and listed prices are starting points that can change with appointment length and the result a client wants. Prices are worked out at consultation rather than over the phone. Tipping is not accepted. The salon describes itself as a commission business that looks after its stylists, who are paid on commission while the salon handles the business side. Stylists receive unlimited sick and vacation days and training through guest educators, in-salon education and one-on-one programming.

The salon uses clean products that it says are better for people and the environment, and it chooses products with clean ingredients and avoids ones it considers toxic. It is a certified Green Circle Salon and says it recycles 95% of its salon waste. New clients booking a first haircut get extra consultation time, a customized cut, an optional head massage, a relaxing shampoo, product recommendations and a blow-dry, starting at $62.50.

Appointments are booked by time rather than by technique, and each client gets a custom look. Open communication between client and stylist is part of every visit.
