Heart Based Health describes its care as whole-being work aimed at longevity, built on traditional Chinese medicine and combined with integrative care. The main office at 6711 Forest Lawn Dr, Suite 104 sits inside the Toluca Lake Tennis Club complex, and the practice says it serves Toluca Lake, Burbank and the Hollywood Hills. A second location at 4418 Vineland Ave, Suite 215 is listed on the booking site as newly open on Fridays.
The practice combines classical Chinese medicine with attention to lifestyle, diet and emotional factors, aiming at the root of a condition rather than only its symptoms. The business describes its acupuncture as anti-oxidative and detoxifying, and as a chance for deep rest that encourages a meditative state. An in-depth detox protocol covering chemicals, heavy metals, parasites and toxins is available, with guidance included in the service.
New patients begin with a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation before booking. The new patient holistic acupuncture wellness visit runs 85 minutes and costs $185, and follow-up wellness visits run 55 minutes. A 25-minute tune-up visit is also offered, along with a 55-minute Lymphatic Qi Balance session at $200. For fertility care, a 90-minute new patient fertility exam and treatment costs $200, and a 60-minute fertility follow-up costs $125. The usual course for an acute condition under three months is six to ten weekly core visits. For chronic conditions over three months, the usual course is eight to twelve weekly visits. Once symptoms improve significantly, visits are usually spaced to every other week for maintenance.
The facelift and microneedling programs combine holistic microneedling with cosmetic acupuncture and customized nutrition advice, with a whole-body approach to skin care. Cosmetic acupuncture is traditionally weekly, and microneedling is usually every four to six weeks, though treatments may be spaced further apart. Microneedling uses sterile needles with a topical numbing cream applied first, and sessions include acupuncture and hot stone therapy. Aftercare asks clients to avoid makeup and facial products for at least 24 hours, to use SPF 30+ and avoid sun exposure for seven days, and to avoid tanning or direct sunlight for 14 days. A vial of hyaluronic serum is provided for home use. Facial treatments include a prescribed herbal beauty tonic at an extra cost. Packages can be upgraded within one month of purchase, with the credit applied to the upgrade. The business states its facelift results are achieved without chemicals, Botox or fillers.
Insurance is handled in-house: the practice provides complimentary insurance verification and billing, is in network with CIGNA, and accepts select out-of-network PPO plans including BlueCross Blue Shield, Anthem BC MPI, United Healthcare, Aetna and Medicare Advantage. Cash-paying patients can access discounted rates and packages. Massage services are listed as eligible for FSA and HSA payment, and financing is offered in-house or through PayPal or Affirm. Patient appointments are offered Sunday, Monday and Wednesday from 9am to 6pm, and every other Saturday from 11am to 4pm. Parking at the main office is street parking Monday through Friday, usually with two-hour limits on Forest Lawn Dr. On Sundays, use the lower lot labeled Avison Young, as the upper tennis club lot is not permitted.
Heart Based Health combines classical Chinese medicine with lifestyle, diet and emotional factors to work on the root of a condition. Its acupuncture is framed as a path to deep rest and self-healing rather than a single fix.
The microneedling space is a calm room used mainly for healing.
