Founded in Larchmont Village in 2003, the center calls itself a wellness cooperative. Its stated mission is to offer bodywork at affordable prices without lowering the quality of care. Each practitioner is an independent business owner who runs their own services through the center, and the business says its practitioners are among the best Los Angeles has to offer.
The massage menu includes acupressure, craniosacral therapy, deep tissue, myofascial release, sports massage, Swedish massage, prenatal massage and oncology massage. Craniosacral sessions are done fully clothed, with the client usually lying face-up while the practitioner works from the feet up to the head. Oncology massage is tailored for people with cancer or a history of cancer, with changes to positioning, pressure and pacing, and can be adjusted for medical devices, blood clots, neuropathy, low blood cell counts and compromised lymph nodes. Commonly charged massage rates are $105 for 60 minutes, $120 for 75 minutes and $145 for 90 minutes, though massage therapists set their own prices and may charge differently.
Acupuncture and chiropractic are offered alongside massage, and skin care is provided by From Head to Toe LA, which is booked through its own link. Massage and acupuncture appointments can be booked online, while chiropractic visits and some acupuncture visits are scheduled by calling the front desk. The center states that everyone practicing there holds current statewide certification for their scope of practice. None of the practitioners bill insurance, but superbills can be provided on request. Cancelling with less than 24 hours notice, including same-day cancellation, incurs a 50% charge that goes to the massage therapist. A card held for a booking is charged only for late cancellations or no-shows. Arriving late may shorten a session, and the full session fee still applies.
Gift certificates for massage are sold as a dollar amount rather than by length of time. They cannot be used for retail products, acupuncture or chiropractic, cannot be combined with discounts or promotions, and have no cash value except as stated in the terms. The center has a zero tolerance policy for sexual advances, innuendo or inappropriate behavior, which can end a session. Parking includes a small lot with four spaces in front and four behind the building, plus metered spaces on Larchmont Blvd. Hours are Monday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and Sunday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The phone number is (323) 461-7876 and the email is info@healinghandswc.com.
Practitioners work as independent business owners who offer their own services through the center, with a stated aim of affordable bodywork that keeps the quality of care intact.
