A visit begins with time to ask questions and have each step explained, which the studio calls The Haven Experience. Services are done with a gentle, quick and thorough technique. Clients decide whether they want to talk during the appointment, and the back of the wax bed can be raised for anyone who is uneasy lying flat. Waxing is also offered during pregnancy, with the client's sensitivity taken into account. The studio describes its setting as respectful and free of judgment.
Hair is removed with hard wax, soft wax or sugar. The hard wax is made in Spain, the soft wax is a hypoallergenic formula made in Italy, and the sugar paste is made in California, which the studio describes as eco-conscious. The sugar paste is made from sugar, lemon and water and applied by hand at room temperature. Hair should be about a quarter inch long or longer for waxing to work well.
Appointment requests stay pending until the client receives confirmation, and the exact address is sent by email and text after that. Clients are asked to arrive 5 to 10 minutes early, and arriving more than 10 minutes late may mean a shortened or rescheduled appointment. At least 12 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule. Deposits go toward the service total but are nonrefundable, and late cancellations and no-shows lose the deposit. Payment is due at the appointment and can be made with exact cash, credit or debit cards, or Tap to Pay.
Brazilian services require parental consent for clients under 16, and a parent or guardian must stay on site. Other hair removal services have no age limit. Each client may bring one guest and up to three children, who must be supervised at all times. First-time male clients must send a valid photo ID that matches the booking, an active social media account with the same name and ID photo, and pay a nonrefundable deposit by card in their own name before the appointment is approved. A Client Consent and Service Agreement must be completed before each visit, and results and regrowth vary, so no service is guaranteed to be painless or to prevent future hair growth.
