Medical dermatology covers a broad range of conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, rosacea, hives, alopecia, hyperhidrosis, vitiligo, warts, skin tags, cysts, lipomas, cold sores, shingles, nail fungus and fungal skin infections. Pediatric dermatology is also offered. Skin cancer care includes diagnosis and treatment of actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, along with mole exams. Mohs micrographic surgery is performed at the Missouri City clinic under local anesthesia. Each layer of tissue is examined in an on-site lab during the same visit, and most patients go home the same day.
The medical aesthetics menu includes AnteAGE microneedling, RF microneedling, Refresh RF skin tightening, Fraxel laser resurfacing, IPL, diode laser hair removal, blue light therapy, chemical peels using TCA, salicylic acid or a hydroethanolic solution, Botox, Dysport, Daxxify and dermal fillers. Eczema treatments include moisturizing, corticosteroid creams, topical immunomodulators and phototherapy, and microdermabrasion is available as well.
The practice runs a Houston Dermatology Clinical Trials & Research Center. Studies have covered hidradenitis suppurativa, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, chronic spontaneous urticaria and chronic hand eczema, using topical therapies, oral medications, biologics, medical devices and observational registries. Participants in qualifying studies receive study-related care and study medication at no cost, insurance is not required, and participation is voluntary. Studies are reviewed by an Institutional Review Board, and eligibility is determined through a pre-screening. Clinical photography may be taken and kept confidential, and participants may bring a family member or friend to visits. Compensation for time and travel depends on the study. Two connected centers of excellence, the Texas Eczema & Itch Center and the Texas Hidradenitis Suppurativa Center, extend the practice's work on eczema, chronic itch and hidradenitis suppurativa.
Practical details: patients can pay online, and those who book through the online scheduling page are asked to send insurance information to the office within 24 hours. If a plan requires authorization or a referral, such as an HMO, patients are asked to call the office first.
