Halekulani began as a collection of guest bungalows in 1917. The Halekulani Corporation took over the property in 1981, and the renovated hotel opened in 1984. The hotel has 453 rooms and describes itself as one of the finest hotels on Oahu.
SpaHalekulani is the hotel's spa and was recently remodeled. It has three spa suites, each with a Japanese furo, a tropical rainshower, hydrotherapy and an inhalation steam chamber, along with a locker and vanity. Guests are asked to wear loose, comfortable clothing. Treatments include Eastern-inspired couple's ceremonies, body renewal and signature therapies, Maile-inspired therapies, a botanical body polish, and vibroacoustic sessions meant to relax and support sleep. According to the hotel, Conde Nast Traveler voted the spa the number two best spa in the country.
The salon is known for its Scalp Renewal and Head Spa, which uses a shampoo bed and a Yume Head Spa by Takara, with detailed scalp visuals and scalp analysis available on site. Studio Styling covers cuts, color, highlights, updos, blowouts and makeup. Manicures and pedicures take place in zero-gravity lounges, including Zero-Gravity Pedicures in weightless recliners designed by NASA.
The Art of Wellbeing program is organized around six pillars: Nourish, Move, Explore, Renew, Rest and Discover. Movement options include water and beach activities, mind-body classes and a fitness studio with a view of the pool and ocean. Integrative Wellness offers private experiences that combine Eastern wisdom, energy work, meditation and martial arts, and nutrition services and custom island day plans are also available.
Halekulani Dojo offers guided one-to-one and small-group sessions with no prior experience required. Tea and Tatami is a 60-minute guided meditation with Sakura Sencha tea, and Walking Meditation is a 60-minute session in the Garden Courtyard.
The hotel's wellness offerings draw on mind-body practices, with the Art of Wellbeing program built around six pillars that span nourishment, movement, rest and renewal.
A beachfront hotel setting on Waikiki, with the fitness studio overlooking the pool and ocean.
