Hair Safari is a single-chair salon in the Westwood Heights neighborhood of South Austin. It operates from a renovated 1956 Spartan trailer on the owners' property, and the business is owned by husband and wife Eric and Jess.
The couple bought the Spartan Royal Manor trailer in 2021 and began operating from it. Eric decided to open his own salon after the pandemic. The name is taken from a salon of the same name in Tyler, Texas, that ran in the 1980s.
The salon describes its one-chair setup as a personalized experience. Visitors can park along Cattle Trail and reach the building through the side gate that faces the street. The salon asks for at least 12 hours' notice to cancel, otherwise a cancellation fee may apply. Clients who arrive more than 5 minutes late may have their appointment cancelled, so calling ahead when running behind is advised.
The salon says its single-chair setup gives each client a personalized visit.
