To start, an in-person consultation lasts 30 minutes and costs $50, which is credited toward full service. Free consultations are also available by FaceTime or WhatsApp. To book an installation, clients first contact the business with their full name, an email address and three recent photos of their hair. Hair needs at least four to six weeks of growth before the appointment, and a nonrefundable deposit of at least $100 is required to book. Rescheduling at least 24 hours ahead keeps the deposit.

Appointments run from 30 minutes to two hours. After booking, the stylist asks for front, back and side photos of the hair along with the desired style, then confirms the appointment. Units usually cover the receding hairline and the front, and sometimes the top of the head, because they need enough surface area to stay secure. Clients choose tape or adhesive for attachment, and the unit is cut and blended with their own hair. Clips are an option for those who prefer not to shave.

Maintenance and touch-ups are recommended every two to six weeks. A maintenance visit includes a haircut and beard trim while the unit is removed, cleaned and reapplied. Clients are not recommended to remove and clean the unit alone, although a take-home kit is available for maintenance at home. Clients may not bring their own hair or products for an installation, under the business's quality control policy. The ROYAL CROWN hair is guaranteed for three to six months with proper care. The business says its units stay secure through bathing, swimming, exercise and wind, and that its sweat-proof units can last up to a year with care. The site labels the 3-6 month sweat-proof Afro and Spanish unit as most popular.

Each replacement is planned around the client's thinning areas, color, texture, curl pattern and density, and then blended with existing hair.
