Hair Perks

Hair Perks operates from Suite 125 inside Slate Salon at 3901 West Fwy in Fort Worth. According to the salon, the space is intentionally curated to keep visits elevated and relaxing. Clients can park in either lot on either side of the building and wait on a couch until the stylist or assistant is ready.

Color is a central part of the menu. Full custom lightening suits guests who want to be lighter all over or keep a lived-in blonde, and it includes a root tap or root shadow depending on the result wanted. Partial custom lightening refreshes lived-in highlights with lighter or dimensional pieces. Full highlights refresh highlights and lowlights for guests already lighter than their natural color, and all over color covers gray or enhances tone from root to end. Appointments start with an in-depth consultation, followed by the service and at-home care recommendations. A first in-salon visit opens with a 15-minute consultation to refine the plan.

Extensions come in two methods. Invisible Bead Extensions use a bead and stitch technique meant to avoid tension points. Keratin Bond extensions, also called K-Tips, are placed individually and customized to each client's hair. Pricing varies, so an accurate quote comes from a complimentary in-person consultation that includes color matching. Wefts should last nine months to a year with proper maintenance, K-Tips are single-use and removed at a 10-12 week appointment, bead maintenance is recommended every 6-8 weeks for finer hair or every 8-10 weeks for thicker or coarse hair, and keratin bonds every 10-12 weeks.

Swimming is allowed in extensions. Coating hair in leave-in conditioner and braiding extensions beforehand is recommended, and washing and conditioning after salt water or chlorine is advised. Sunscreens containing avobenzone can turn extensions pink or peach, and the salon cannot reverse this. Repeatedly wearing extensions in a high, tight bun or ponytail is discouraged because it may cause slippage.

The keratin treatment is offered to smooth frizz and is not a straightening service; results last three to four months. Hair Perks uses Arete and Milbon haircare lines, which the salon describes as targeting hair repair and reducing breakage. New guests are usually seen within two to three weeks of requesting an appointment, though guests with limited availability may wait up to 12 weeks. For color services, clean hair from one to two days before is preferred unless discussed otherwise. The salon may ask for before and after photos, and clients may bring a book, podcast or laptop to use during their appointment.
