The shop was started in Dayton, Ohio in 1989 under the name Hair & Headquarters by Sue Lee. After her family moved to Georgia in 2000, she ran the business from a distance, and a second location opened in Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth in 2002. A later wig store followed in the Buford area. Today the business has one location inside Mall of Georgia. Sue Lee has retired, and her daughter Michelle continues the work. The business describes itself as having more than 35 years of experience with wigs, toppers and hair pieces for people experiencing hair loss.

The boutique is on the bottom level of the mall, in a small hallway across from Belk. Customers can try on different styles, colors, caps and sizes in private fitting areas. Consultations are personalized and compassionate, and staff give hands-on guidance on wearing and caring for wigs and pieces. A free consultation can be booked by phone at 770-932-1261. Appointments take priority over walk-ins, and Spanish-language service is available by appointment. Hours are Monday to Thursday 10am to 8pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 9pm, and Sunday 11am to 7pm.

Parking is available at Belk or in a small paid lot behind Dick's Sporting Goods and Barnes & Noble. Paid spots and handicap spots are very limited, so visitors may want to plan ahead.

Some insurance plans may cover wigs or toppers, which can be classed as a cranial prosthesis. The shop does not file claims itself. Instead it provides a receipt with the details needed for reimbursement, and if a medical code is required, the customer's physician can supply one to be added to the receipt. A 10% discount is offered to chemotherapy and alopecia patients.

For a topper consultation, bring hair styled the way you usually wear it. Please arrive without root touch-up, hair makeup or powder fillers, since those can be applied before you leave. Wig services such as washing, styling, fit adjustments and alterations are offered for pieces purchased from the business.

The shop focuses on personalized, compassionate consultations, hands-on teaching about wearing and caring for wigs, and diagnosing and correcting fit problems.
