Hair Extensions by Jess is run by its owner, Jess, and focuses on hair extensions rather than general salon services. Extensions can add length, volume, texture or color, or help correct a haircut that did not turn out as wanted.

Every new extension client has a consultation before any hair is installed. The consultation covers the method, texture, length, a custom color match and care instructions. Clients who cannot come in can do the consultation by text or email, but photos are needed before a quote is given. Consultations are free. Appointments are booked by calling or texting 727-458-5310, and extension bookings require a non-refundable $200 deposit.

Installation takes about one to two hours. Tape-in wefts are applied with single-sided or double-sided polyurethane tape, and fusion bonds and micro-links are also offered. For clients with extremely thin hair, tape-in can be applied as a single panel, usually at the temples and sides. Removal uses a gel-based remover or an alcohol solution for fusion bonds, and micro-links are opened to release the hair.

The studio's hair is 100% human and comes mainly from Europe, India and Asia. It works with several hair companies, including Cinderella Hair, Hairdreams, Hotheads Extensions, Dream Catchers Hair Extensions, SHE SoCap Hair Extensions, Donna Bella Hair Extensions and Halo Couture Hair Extensions. The business describes its extensions as fast, safe and easy to remove, and says many clients feel their hair looks and feels better afterward.

Tape-in extensions range from $150 to $1,500, and fusion extensions range from $300 to $1,500. Final cost depends on needs, the hair company, the amount of hair and length. Fusion extensions using shrink and link methods are said to usually start around $300 before hair cost. These figures are general and may not match the studio's own prices.

Aftercare is part of the service. Hair should not be washed for 24 to 48 hours after installation, then only every two to three days, using a sulfate-free shampoo and no volumizing products. Micro-links need tightening about every six weeks. Coloring is not recommended because lightening can damage the hair, and any coloring is at the client's own risk. Heat tools can be used on the extensions except on fusion bonds, which can melt easily. Extensions are generally worn for three to four months, then removed and moved up the scalp or replaced.
