About

Hair by Morgue is run by Morgan Curtner, who focuses on customized, low-maintenance haircutting. Each cut is shaped around the client's head shape, growth patterns and daily routine, with the aim of creating a signature shape that is easy to live with.

The studio describes its approach as holistic, treating mind, body, spirit and environment as connected. It describes the visit as multi-sensory and non-toxic, and it uses organic brands it calls ethical and environmentally friendly. Products are naturally scented with essential oils, and the studio says they contain no harmful ingredients.

Services are grouped into cutting, consultation, maintenance and add-ons. New clients can book The Newbie, which allows extra time to talk through hair goals. Existing clients have a range of cuts from The Kiddie for children ages 4 to 8 to The Works, which includes two add-ons, an extended scalp massage and an aromatherapy steam. Maintenance visits are for returning clients seen in the past 12 weeks and do not include a shampoo.

Pricing is set so the price shown is the price paid, with no gratuity added. Bookings are made through an online Square booking page. Clients are not pressured to buy retail products.

Morgan also teaches independent hands-on classes, including Pixie Perfected, Aesthetic Cutting, Intro to Straight Razor Cutting and House Party: Industry Preview, with classes limited to 8 students. Classes covering pixies, bobs, shags and mullets are also offered, and in-house education for businesses can be requested through a contact form. The listed classes are currently sold out.

Holistic in outlook, treating mind, body, spirit and environment as connected, with cuts customized to each client and sustainability practiced in the salon.

The studio describes the experience as multi-sensory and non-toxic.
