Hair Boss was established in 2019 and has ten styling stations. Lena Reitz, who is CEO and creator of the Skinny Weft Method, founded the salon and its online hair shop, Hairadise. The Hollywood location is the company's second salon, following a first salon in Calgary, Alberta. Cherish Lazarov is a co-founder and co-owner. The salon says its clientele includes television personalities, musicians, influencers and other public figures. It has been featured on Vanderpump Rules and has served as a backdrop for music videos and photo shoots, and it says it received a Go Solo editor's choice award for Best in West Hollywood.

About

Extension work is built around the Skinny Weft Method, a technique the salon says is trademarked. Installs use Micro-Flex, Genius or Hand Tied wefts attached with double-lined, silicone-lined aluminum beads and nylon thread, with no tape, glue, braids or heat. According to the salon, the method uses up to 10% of natural hair, where other extension methods can use up to 80%, and it places wefts a safe distance from the scalp. Every stylist who installs Skinny Weft must first be certified. Tune-up appointments every four weeks release shedding hair and reposition the extensions. Placement is changed after six months of continuous wear so the natural hair can rest, and the salon says its hair lines last a year or more.

Every extension appointment starts with a consultation. Video and virtual consultations are complimentary, and in-person consultations cost $50 for guests who have not had one before. Consultations include a color ring match. Extension prices are quoted afterward and depend on length, texture, weft type, density, color matching and customization. Skinny Weft installation packages run from $375 for Pick Me Up (50g, one row) to $975 for Volume Plus (350g-400g, five rows), with hair sold separately. Clients can also bring their own hair for a B.Y.O.B. installation, which includes the install, cut, style and removal. Removal of extensions from other salons must be booked in advance and costs $50 to $100. Removal at the salon is $75 for 30 minutes or $150 for 60 minutes, and Skinny Weft removal is complimentary for clients who bought their package here. Hair removal that runs past 30 minutes because of lack of maintenance carries an additional fee.

Color is done with Davines systems and includes permanent, ammonia-free and demi-permanent options. Services cover regrowth color deposits, all-over color, foil and tone, solid blonde root regrowth and express flash-tone services. Color services include a blowout. Color correction is $150 per hour and requires a consultation. Extensions can be colored with developer of 10 volume or less, pre-treated hair should not be lightened, and color touch-ups can be done without removing the extensions. Blowouts start at $80 for natural hair and $100 for extensions, and treatment add-ons are $45 each. Haircuts start at $45 for a bang cut and $115 for a standard haircut.

Appointments can be booked online through the Hair Boss booking page, which also sets out the deposit, cancellation and preparation policies. Street parking is available on nearby streets, including 1-2 hour and 10-hour zones and 1-hour meters, and valet parking is available behind All About the Bread on Melrose and Detroit. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome during appointments. Salon partners have a beverage, snack and coffee bar available for their clients. The salon offers three ways to work with it: a W-2 employee path for established stylists with at least 30% of their own clientele, an hourly assistant path for emerging talent, and rental agreements for independent stylists, hourly, daily, part-time or full-time.
