In 1974 Brita Jonsson and Joyce Wolfe bought Paulsen's and renamed it HAIR. Evelyn Paulsen kept working at the salon for many years after the sale. The salon describes itself as having a long-standing role in the Berkeley community.
The salon has five stylists on staff. Each one is independent, setting their own schedule and their own prices, so the way you book depends on the stylist. Clients are asked to contact a stylist directly to talk through their hair needs and set up an appointment. The salon's main line is 510 526 3684.
