Grow Salon + Wine Bar is a salon with a wine bar on site, in the downtown area of Georgetown near the town square. It serves Georgetown and Salado, Texas. Emily Hankemeier founded the business and works there as founder and lead stylist. The salon describes itself as a top destination for hair color, haircuts and extensions in the two towns, and says it was voted Best of Georgetown three years in a row. The space was newly renovated and has lofted ceilings and a lot of natural light.

About

New guests who are unsure who to book can take an online quiz of about five minutes. It looks at hair type, schedule and personality and suggests three stylists. The salon says it works only with experienced stylists rather than assistants or recent graduates, and it does not double-book, so each appointment has the stylist's full attention.

Color is priced by how much product is used. The amount is calculated at checkout using Vish color scale technology, and a custom color charge is added after the service. Final totals can come in above or below estimates depending on hair length, density and the result wanted, and stylists talk this through before the service. Some goals take more than one session, and guests who have used box color are asked to have an in-person consultation first. Menu prices are Level 1 prices. Stylists move up levels as demand for their time grows, and prices for other levels are available by phone from the salon's Guest Happiness Coordinators.

Apprentice stylists offer Level 1 services at half the standard price, aimed at simple haircuts and traditional highlights. Level 2 apprentice services are offered at three-quarters of the standard price and are aimed at dimensional highlights, balayage and precision cuts. Service adjustments for apprentice-level appointments are handled by other apprentice stylists.

Sustainability is described as central to the business. The salon says it is a Certified Sustainable Salon and a Carbon-Neutral Certified Salon that offsets its emissions, including those it cannot avoid. It partners with Green Circle Salon to recover up to 95 percent of salon waste, including hair clippings, foils, color tubes, aerosol cans, paper and plastic. The salon uses eco-friendly lighting and water-saving shower heads. A $3 Green Circle fee applies at checkout, and clients can opt out by telling the front desk.
