Great Clips Independence Square is a franchisee-owned salon on Harris Pike in Independence, Kentucky. The local owner runs it independently as part of the Great Clips network, which the company says includes more than 4,400 salons across the United States and Canada.

The salon takes walk-ins. Guests check in at the front desk and are taken back when it is their turn. Guests can also join the waitlist through Online Check-In on the Great Clips website or app, which shows estimated wait times. Online Check-In is a place in line rather than an appointment, and it is not available for perms or formal updos. Stylists cannot be requested through it, but guests can ask for a particular stylist in person at check-in, which may lengthen the wait.

Stylists take part in continuing education that covers advanced techniques, the hairstyles currently in demand, and guest care. Clip Notes log how each cut was done, so a guest can ask for the same cut at any Great Clips salon. Before visiting, guests can browse the haircut lookbook on the website to choose a style.

Hair coloring is not offered. Evening and weekend hours are available. Listed prices are a standard haircut at $20, child (10 and under) and senior (65 and over) haircuts at $18 each, a beard trim at $12, and bang trims, neck trims and shampoo at $8 each. Prices are set by the local franchise owner and may vary or change, and additional taxes and fees may apply.

The salon supports Children's Miracle Network and takes part in the Clips of Kindness program, which offers complimentary clipper cuts for people undergoing cancer treatment. On Veterans Day it offers free haircuts or haircut cards to active and veteran service members. Participation in the Wigs for Kids hair donation program varies, so guests should ask the salon.

Each visit begins with a personalized consultation before the cut, and stylists work with every hair type and texture, including thin, thick, colored and natural hair.
