Treatments use the Asclepion Mediostar Monolith, a diode laser that the salon describes as FDA-cleared and medical-grade. According to the salon, the device runs at 5000W, three times the power of regular diode machines at 1600W. It uses dual wavelengths of 810 and 940 nm and includes cooling technology. The salon describes the laser as precise, quick and consistent, and says discomfort during treatment is minimal.
Visits open with a consultation to determine whether a treatment is a good fit. Treatments are tailored to each client's skin and hair type, and settings can be changed to suit how sensitive the skin is. The salon adjusts its approach and settings for clients with a broad range of skin tones. Registered nurses trained in laser technology and skin response carry out every treatment.
Most clients need 8 to 10 sessions, typically spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, and some areas may need occasional maintenance sessions after the initial series. The FAQ says most clients see a 70 to 90 percent decrease in hair growth after completing sessions, according to the salon. Little or no downtime is expected after a session. Certain medications and skin conditions may require adjustment or postponement of treatment, and very light blonde, red or grey hair may not respond well to laser.
Before treatment, shave the area 12 to 24 hours ahead and avoid sun and tanning for at least 2 weeks before the first session. Skip waxing, plucking and threading before and between sessions, and shaving is the recommended method between sessions. Do not apply lotions, oils or deodorant to the treated area before a session. For 24 hours after treatment, avoid heat such as workouts, saunas, hot showers and sun. Tattoos are covered during treatment.
Each treatment is calibrated to the individual's skin and hair type, with suitability assessed in a consultation before the first session.
