About

Gold Studio Experience was founded in November 2020 by Presley Poe and operates from a suite in Portland, Oregon. The salon describes itself as more than a salon, a place for connection and self-expression. It says it welcomes everyone and puts weight on inclusion, individuality and self-expression.

A shampoo service may include a curl steam bath and an invigorating scalp treatment. Clients leave with products and guidance for styling their hair at home, and the salon sells retail hair products for all hair types and textures.

Each stylist sets their own service prices and tells clients about any changes. Artists can rent a booth or work on a commission basis, and the salon runs Gold Studio Academy for stylist education. Because the guest list is full, the salon allows clients to prebook up to a year of visits.

Booking policies: cancellations or reschedules made at least 48 hours ahead carry no fee. Clients more than 20 minutes late may need to rebook and are charged for the full scheduled services, and missed appointments without notice are charged the same way. Fees go to the card on file, and a client whose card is declined cannot book until the fee is paid. Children under 16 may book but need an adult with them throughout, and no more than one family member or friend may attend a visit at a time. The salon says gratuity is welcome and cites an industry average of 15 to 25 percent of the service. Clients are asked not to photograph retail products, and product returns are not accepted after 7 days. The salon does not refund services; refund questions go to the individual stylist's policy.

The salon describes its approach as welcoming and inclusive, with each stylist working on their own service pricing and visits.

The salon describes itself as a space for connection and self-expression.
