Gold Dust Salon works out of a private studio located off Highway 62 in Yucca Valley. It also runs a location at Eagle Rock Boulevard in Los Angeles, and the two sites keep different hours.

The menu is grouped into color, consultation and haircut services. Color ranges from root touch-ups and all-over color to partial and whole-head highlights and hand-painted balayage. Creative Color is a full color change, from dark to light or into fashion shades, priced by the hour. Creative Color needs its own consultation first so that product stock can be checked before the change.

Before any major color change, a free 15-minute consultation is required. Haircuts are offered at several lengths, from a short cut above the ears to an extra long cut for thick hair that needs longer to cut and blow dry. Bangs & Bits sits between a bang trim and a full haircut, covering bangs and the hair around the face.

The studio asks that appointments be canceled at least 24 hours ahead, since late cancellations are charged the full service price. Clients who arrive more than 15 minutes late are asked to reschedule.

Haircuts lean on scissor work, with clipper use kept to a minimum. Major color changes start with a consultation.
