Glossa
Salon suites in Covington, KY
Glossa is a group of makeup artists who share a schedule, a website and contracts, while each artist works as an individual contractor. Each artist handles their own licensing, insurance, taxes and payment collection, so payments go straight to the artist and questions about service, satisfaction or billing go to that artist. Bookings can be arranged through Angela, the director and client coordinator, by email or by phone or text.

The collective's stated goal is to help clients feel confident whatever the occasion. The artists see makeup as a way to bring out natural features rather than cover them. The business does not sell makeup, is not tied to one product line and does not pressure clients to buy makeup or skincare. The artists take artistry training twice a year, and the business states that its artists have a combined 40 or more years in the makeup industry.
Work ranges from bridal and special event makeup to commercial, film and television projects, special effects and headshots. Past commercial clients listed include Maroon 5, FOX News, NBC Universal, Procter and Gamble and the Cincinnati Reds. The business states that photographers and directors have said a Glossa artist on set improves the shots and the working relationship with clients.
Wedding clients typically start with a bridal trial, which can be scheduled from one year in advance up to one month before the wedding. Glossa books a bridal date only after the reservation fee is paid and the contract is signed. The schedule allows 30 to 45 minutes per face and 45 minutes to 1 hour for the bride. Each artist books only one wedding per day, and parties of 3 to 8 faces are treated as average for one artist, while 9 or more may require a second artist with additional charges. Wedding parties are responsible for valet parking when getting ready at a hotel or similar location. Payment is accepted by cash, Venmo or Zelle. Partner services are lash extensions and spray tanning by Heather Kells, and hair styling by Melinda Smith.
Glossa uses makeup to enhance natural features and aims to help clients feel confident for any occasion, with no sales pressure for product lines.
